CF Guild Recap: Our Responsibility to Build Community Across Family, Parish

Recording + Call Notes from our October 13th CF Guild Meeting (Paid Members Only)

Modern life has made it easy to live next to people without ever living with them.

We drive to church, drive to work, drive to events, and keep up with friends through group chats.

Suburbia promises independence, but for most Catholic families it delivers isolation. Faith, family, and business were never meant to be lived alone.

So… we put together this special guild topic session. One of our members, Mike Senglaub, joined by researcher and lecturer Joel Vaughn Peddle, started off this call with a presentation.

Mike covered what it would take to rebuild real Catholic community: villages, parish life, guilds, and the parallel (preference) economy that holds them together.

After that we discussed the ways that we have been building community in our own ways locally. Everything from taking over KofC councils to hosting regular potlucks.

The topic call is a recurring monthly event where we discuss relevant topics about running the business.

One-Liner Takeaway

We were made to depend on one another, so Catholic founders must build communities close enough to share life, not just a group chat.

Mike argued that capitalism and modernity sell a false promise of radical autonomy. This is against God’s design. He designed us to be communal and dependent. The very purpose of our existence is to be ONE with Him in heaven for eternity.

Real community needs physical proximity, a spiritual foundation, and an economy where Catholics invest in one another.

The best part of all this is, to start, you don’t have to go out and buy 40 acres. It starts with 1:1 coffees, inviting neighbors over, showing up at the parish events, and letting a local Catholic culture grow organically.

End of the Road for Free Subscribers

Alright, the rest of this session is exclusively for CF Guild members. If you’d like to join future calls, consider upgrading to a paid membership today.

The Catholic Founders Guild is an association of Catholic Biz owners who believe that their business is meant to be an extension of God’s will in the world.

If you share this belief, join today! (PS: It’s only $100 a year or $10 a month, so anyone can afford to join)
