On Apr 14, 2026, the CF Guild discussed how we all decided to start our businesses and some of the things we wish we had done differently.
A key theme was that the decision to start a business often comes down to finding the confidence and consistency to take action, especially after weighing the risk and establishing a financial cushion. We generally agreed that focusing intensely on one venture for the long term, rather than constantly seeking new ones, is key to achieving exponential results.
The topic call is a recurring monthly event where we discuss relevant topics about running the business. To join future events, become a member of the Catholic Founders Guild today.
One-Liner Takeaway
For those who aren’t paid members yet, here’s the quick one-liner takeaway:
The leap into entrepreneurship requires overcoming risk aversion, establishing a financial cushion, and ultimately, trusting God’s guidance.
The Leap
Starting out usually comes from a drive for independence and high agency — that feeling of wanting to steer your own destiny. Whether you start young or pivot later, the biggest hurdles are always procrastination and fear of risk. But, as Catholics, if we believe we are called to something, we should send it and trust in God.
If we just want to start a business for freedom, then we must use our God-given faculties to take that leap wisely — and with proper planning. In general, I usually suggest ppl to have a clear idea of how they will make enough to get to their monthly income goal, and then have 9 months of savings. This way, you have 6 months to give it your all, and 3 months to find a new job if it doesn’t work out.
Alright, the rest of this session is exclusively for CF Guild members. If you’d like to join future calls, consider upgrading to a paid membership today.
The Catholic Founders Guild is an association of Catholic Biz owners who believe that their business is meant to be an extension of God’s will in the world.
