This is a gem of a take. Right now, I am on the side of not having built a business yet. Secular sources say find someone who does what you want to do and mentor under them. That may be good advice, however the truth is that God, in his infinite creativity, has given YOU unique charisms and a unique mission to pursue on this Earth. Trust Him. Mother Angelica (EWTN) was quoted in saying, "You only know God's will in the rearview mirror" so go and pursue what God desires you to pursue. Make the decision, commit to it, do not be attached to only having tunnel vision.
This is not a refined thought, kinda just raw. Happy for someone to think otherwise.

I think God uses our momentum to steer us. Without any momentum tho, it's hard for Him to use the wind to change our course. Same thing with staying anchored in the harbor. He can't even send rough waters to shake us up.
Also, I once heard someone say something that has always stuck with me-- Yes, you should follow your passion. You should follow it into the wilderness and kill it. Because it is only after killing your passions and dying to yourself that you can discover and understand what God has called you to do.
This is an excellent piece. It is something that more people need to hear and live out. We were not created to bring increased market efficiency, or increased productivity, or increased shareholder value. We were created to pursue God and become Saints. If each of us does what we are being called to do, rather than each of us trying to fill a perceived gap in the marketplace, everything else will take care of itself. God designed us to work together as a whole Church; we cannot be the whole if so many are working separately on the same things.
I’m of the opinion that you can make yourself passionate about a subject. I was not originally passionate or even vaguely interested in financial planning and analysis.
