I’m not Catholic but I’ve been in the employee benefits space for a long time.

This is the first time I’ve seen an EB piece specifically merging these concepts.

Thank you for an interesting read.

What does this look like if you don't employ American citizens, though? Do we follow the rules of where we live or the rules of the country the employees live in?

I'm no legal expert, but what I will say is.

If you decide to do things against the law, you'll have to face the consequences and be ready for that.

The key thing I like to focus on is: where is there a 'best practice' that is not legally mandated but is against Catholic Social Teaching -- those are the areas we need to stand out, be different, and change how things are done.

I wasn't talking about hiring illegally I am asking about hiring from different countries legally. Like hiring a VA from the Philippines. Are they employees or contractors? If they are W-2 employees, which country rules are followed?

Again, I am not the person to ask. Best to consult a lawyer or ask AI as a starting point. We hire people as contractors when we hire overseas.

International and state compliance vary significantly. If you’re hiring internationally, it’s especially important to dot your “I’s” and cross your “t’s”.
