Harrison Butker: A Sign of What's to Come
What The Backlash/Support Indicates About What God is About to Do to the World (and Our Role to Play)
By this time, I’m sure you’ve heard many takes on Harrison Butker’s speech. You’ve probably discussed it at length with your friends, family, and maybe even some co-workers. Perhaps you’ve even gotten into some Twitter arguments like I did. 😬
I won’t comment on his speech. Rather, what we can imitate in our lives.
It’s evident from his life and confirmed by his speech that “He has no choice but to use the position God has given him.” He (correctly) observes the situation. He’s not responsible for all the success he’s had. God has brought him to this outcome. God put him where he is, and he put him there specifically at this moment in time. All for a reason.
God doesn’t do things by accident.
He’s not responsible for all the success he’s had.
How many of us recognize this truth?
Sure, we think about it occasionally. We express gratitude for where we are and our gifts. But how frequently ought we to do this?
The answer is always.
In order to be in total union with God, we must practice recognizing this fact so that we can be aware of His Presence at every moment of life.
No doubt—it’s difficult—but only when we have a mindset of reliance on self. Once we stop believing that our success is ours alone, we recognize more and more that God is the source of everything. Being present with Him at every moment is all that matters.
Once understood, we begin to live in a deep and constant union with God.
Okay—now we know what we need to do. So ask, “What exactly are we called to do with the position God has put us in?
I’ve asked myself this many times. I’d often start scheming grand things that I could do to advance His mission. However, after a session of spiritual direction during a retreat, a priest pointed something out to me.
He said that we don’t need to go seeking some group of people to evangelize to. We simply need to evangelize to the people God put us in front of. Our family, co-workers, customers, etc. Yep! It’s that easy.

Not only does God elevate us to the level He wants us to (if we cooperate properly). He also leads others to encounter us. It kind of makes you feel lame when you realize how easy He makes it for us to cooperate with His will.
Now, one more thing before I let you go.
A Case for Severe Optimism about the Near Future of Catholocism in the World.
I firmly believe this moment in time will be remembered as a key turning point in God’s battle for the heart of society.
It’s not just Harrison’s speech that made this happen. The pressure has been building.
Society has been engaged in self-indulgence for far too long. (As can be seen by the rise in consumption of Sex, Drugs, and Porn).
An emptiness is eating away at most people who do not have God. I notice this in my peers, who are curious about my choice to practice my faith despite it appearing to be “super inconvenient” (their words).
Groups like Legatus, Lumen Institute, Young Catholic Professionals, The NAPA Institute, SENT Ventures, Catholic Angels, and The Catholic Professional are thriving.
In addition, we had a huge cultural moment when Hallow prayed with America during the Super Bowl.
Linked with this is the public stance Mark Wahlberg takes about his Catholic Faith.
You’ve got moments like Shia LaBeouf converting after playing the part of Padre Pio.
Hallow, Exodus 90, and Presidio Healthcare are merging tech and faith.
All of these things have built up pressure to the point where I think an unleashing is about to happen. That is, if we are all willing to do our part, preach the Gospel through our actions, and speak up when the time is right.
The broader world is up in arms about Harrison’s traditional views, which presents an opportunity for a lot of conversation and conversion. Just remember, it won’t happen unless we approach every conversation with charity.
Are you ready for the next century? The Century where God retakes the hearts of men. I sure am. 🚀

Excellent post. Very true. As a Catholic, the key to ‘succeeding’ with the aforementioned objective is to operate one’s business as an Ecclesiastical Enterprise; a religious corporation that follows a strict religious rule. God will then do all the real work that we will cooperate with. Every Saint has mentioned in one way or another that “they became less and less and He became more and more.” This refers to the surrender of our will to God’s Will. This can only happen through structured prayer; prayer ‘baked’ right into the work day.
